About dandelion & Peacock
Hi I’m Jess, a self-taught textile artist from the beautiful county of Somerset, UK. My journey with textiles began about seven years ago, after the birth of my second child, when I was experiencing postnatal anxiety. In search of a way to calm my mind, I discovered sewing – and I found my happy place. The creative process brought me a sense of peace and relaxation, and I’ve never looked back.
I’ve always had a love for textiles, especially the texture, colour, and character of vintage fabrics. There’s something special about working with materials that have a history. Inspired by the British countryside surrounding me and the natural world, I love to reflect its natural beauty in my designs whilst combining my love for vintage, scrap, and new fabrics, creating unique pieces that blend the old with the new. My passion for sustainability and the mental health benefits of crafting, has led me to develop slow stitch kits, where I offer the same mix of fabrics and nature inspired designs, for others to explore and create with.
Each piece I make tells a story, and I hope to inspire others to find their own creative escape through sewing, just like I did.
